Calculating Resistance of Container Ship with Specific Turning Angle Using Form Factor Coefficient K

Authors: Hoang Cong Liem*, Pham Van Sang, Le Thanh Tung

In Stability and control of Ship, knowledge about ship resistance is very important. In order to control the ship – especially when the ship changes the course- it is necessary to obtain the values of resistance at specific turning angels. In reality, the results of ship resistance obtained from doing experiment or simulation using small model have to adjust to get the resistance of real ship. The situation will be more complicated if the ship does not sail straightly. In this research, the authors try to solve this problem by using form factor k. All the results were carried out using container ship with about 170 m long.
