A Study on the Non-linear Least Squares Estimation of Modal Parameters of Automobile Structures

Authors: Duong Ngoc Khanh*

Abstract

Experimental modal analysis helps to understand the vibration phenomenon and/or the validation of analytical results of automobile structures in general. The results of experimental modal analysis can be applied to further analyses such as model updating, prediction of structural modification or optimum design. Modal parameter estimation techniques are used to get modal parameters from experimentally acquired frequency response functions. Many techniques have been presented for extracting modal parameters utilizing frequency response functions. In this paper, the technique is referred to as the Non-linear Least Squares approach
