Design and Implementation of a Braille Display Device Connecting to Smartphone ☆

In this paper, we propose a new handheld Braille dislay device based on Bluetooth Low Energy technology which allows the visually impaired people to read the received messages in their Android smartphone. The whole system is consisting of a Braille display module, microcontroller module, Bluetooth Low Energy module and Android smartphone that is embedded with Bluetooth Low Energy. The results show that the proposed device has a compact size, stable performance, low power consumption and easy to use for the visually impaired people.
