Abstract

The friction pairs are usually machined using appropriate technological methods to minimize the friction and wear, and to improve the longevity. For the friction pairs that require a high surface quality are usually finished by the fine-grinding. The shaping motion of machine tools in general and the grinding machine in particular for machining whole surfaces always exist a longitudinal and horizontal feed rates. These two feed rates are often different so that results in a different quality of horizontal and longitudinal friction surface. This paper presents the study results of anisotropy of anisotropy of surface friction wich is conducted by fine-grinding method. This result demonstrates the existence of anisotropic friction, which can be used to design a final machined technology of friction pairs to reduce the friction, and to improve the operation efficiency. Keywords: Surface grinding, surface friction, surface anisotropy
